Who we are
A little coffee. A little cocktails. A lot of staying a while.
Velvet Lasso is a cafe, lounge, kitchen, bar, and neighborhood living room in Denver’s LoHi neighborhood, built around good food, good drinks, and even better company.
By day, we’re slinging coffee, matcha, house-made pastries, and food worth leaving the house for. By night, the lights get lower, the martinis get dirtier, and the cafe gives way to a full-service lounge with cocktails, dinner, and a little bit of trouble.
But Velvet Lasso was never meant to be just a place to eat and drink.
We wanted to build the kind of place we were always looking for ourselves: a true third space. Somewhere between home and work where you can actually exist for a while.
Come alone. Bring a date. Read a book. Meet somebody new. Stay for another drink. Show up for a supper club, a market, a class, a DJ set, or whatever strange little thing we decided to put on that week.
Our menus are playful, nostalgic, occasionally inappropriate, and made with a whole lot of intention. We like familiar things done a little differently, whether that means turning childhood comfort food on its head, making a martini taste like something it probably shouldn’t, or putting way too much effort into a pastry because we can.
At the heart of it all is community. Velvet Lasso is queer-owned, proudly independent, and built to be a space where people can gather, connect, create, celebrate, flirt, eat something delicious, and feel like they belong.
It’s a little spaghetti western, a little disco, a little great-aunt’s living room after she’s had two martinis.
Welcome to Velvet Lasso.
Pull up a chair. Stay awhile.
